Goldsboro, NC — On May 24, 2021 at approximately 9:39a.m. Officers with Goldsboro Police Department’s Patrol “C” Shift were dispatched to the 300 block of Bright Street, Goldsboro, NC for a report of a deceased person. The deceased person was located. The Criminal Investigations Division and the Crime Scene Unit responded and initiated an investigation.
UPDATE [May 28, 2021]
Goldsboro, NC — The Goldsboro Police Department continues to receive investigative leads in this death investigation. The investigation has produced a tentative identification of the body discovered on Bright St. However, before this information is released, a positive identification is needed from the State Medical Examiner’s Office and the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory.
The Goldsboro Police Department thanks the public for quickly identifying and locating the vehicle in connection with this investigation.
ARREST [May 28, 2021]
Goldsboro, NC — At 1750 hours, Willie Lee Langston Jr., 29, of La Grange, NC was arrested at the Goldsboro Police Department without incident. Mr. Langston came to the police department in reference to his vehicle being seized in Mt. Olive, NC earlier today. Mr. Langston is being charged with the murder of the person who was found next to the residence on Bright Street in Goldsboro on 5/24/2021.
Mr. Langston was formally charged at the Wayne County Magistrate’s office and held in the Wayne County Detention Center without bond. His first appearance will be Tuesday 6/1/2021 in District Court.
This investigation is continuing and charges against additional suspects are possible. We are still waiting for confirmation of the identity of the deceased.
