The Support Services Division is staffed by officers and civilians that are trained in specialized areas of law enforcement. This division is responsible for supporting all three Department divisions for their efficient operations. Areas of expertise and responsibility that fall into the Support Services Division include:

  • Training and Standards – responsible for the continuing education of veteran officers in the field of policing.
  • Building and Grounds – employees maintain the physical appearance and equipment of the buildings and grounds the police department operates from.
  • The Public Housing Unit – promote a safe and healthy living environment in the City of Goldsboro’s public housing communities.
  • The Selective Enforcement Unit – multi-functional, tactically trained, specialized task force which is frequently called upon to assist other divisions within the department to augment manpower or to solely assume responsibility for special assignments.
  •  The Emergency Response Team – respond to dangerous high-risk incidents that required tactical operation skills.
  • Public “Vehicles For Hire” registration – includes taxis and limousines. Employees of the Support Services Division inspect these businesses to ensure they meet minimum requirements as regulated by city ordinances and issue permits to those businesses that meet these requirements.

Support Services  Division employees periodically inspect these businesses to ensure they meet these requirements, remove businesses from the list that do not comply with the requirements, and add new businesses to the list.

Vehicles for Hire include taxis and limousines. Employees of the Support Services Bureau inspect these businesses to ensure they meet minimum requirements as regulated by city ordinances and issue permits to those businesses that meet these requirements.

Taxi and limousines business and driver information is regulated by Goldsboro City Ordinance Title XI, Chapter 114. An application to operate a taxi or limousine as a driver may be picked up from the Goldsboro Police Depart during business hours.
